ADHD Assessment
What is an ADHD assessment?
At Lesley Hartman & Associates, our ADHD assessments help clients gain clarity about attention, focus, and executive functioning challenges, and how these impact learning, work, and daily life. We offer comprehensive assessments for children (6+), teens, and adults who are struggling with organization, concentration, impulsivity, or restlessness, or who want to better understand long-standing patterns that may relate to ADHD
Who It's For:
ADHD Assessments are appropriate for:
-
Children and youth whose attention or behavioural challenges affect school performance or relationships
-
Adults who have ongoing difficulties with focus, time management, or follow-though that interfere with work or home life
-
Individuals who are seeking diagnostic clarification or documentation for academic or workplace accommodations
-
Those who wish to understand whether ADHD, or another concern such as anxiety or learning differences, best explains their symptoms.
What to Expect:
Our process is collaborative, respectful, and tailored to each client. An ADHD assessment typically includes:
-
Initial Interview - We begin with an in-depth conversation about your history, strengths, and areas of concerns. For children, we also gather input from parents and teachers.
-
Testing and Questionnaires - You'll complete standardized measures that assess attention, executive functioning, and related skills. We may also use behaviour rating scales and collateral questionnaires from key people in your life.
-
Clinical Analysis - Your clinician integrates all results, background information, and observations to determine whether ADHD -or another factor- best explains your experiences.
-
Feedback and Recommendations - You'll receive a comprehensive report and a feedback session that explains the findings clearly. We provide personalized recommendations, including strategies, supports, and referrals that can help you move forward.
Our goal is to provide insight and direction--not just a diagnosis. Through this process, clients gain a clearer understanding of their unique neurodevelopmental profile and practical steps to support their success and well-being.
Time & Financial Commitment:
Our ADHD assessment typically involves several hours of direct and behind-the-scenes clinical work, including interviews, testing, scoring, and report writing.
-
Testing typically takes place over two half days (4 hours), generally spread 1 week apart. We can accommodate if you are coming from out of town and do one full testing day.
Most clients can expect the process to take a few weeks from start to finish, depending on scheduling and the level of detail required. Fees vary based on the scope and complexity of the assessment, and detailed cost information is provided before booking so clients can make informed decisions.
