About Marie Josette Durup

Helping people improve the quality of their lives by addressing the psychological concerns they face has been my life's mission. In the process, people learn to manage and cope with their personal difficulties and distress, and find a sense of calm, personal growth, and joy.

 

Over the years, I have amassed a full tool-box of therapeutic approaches, strategies, and techniques on which I draw to address the problems my clients face. The choice of tool is arrived through a collaborative process with the client, taking into consideration the nature of the problem, the characteristics of the client, and the stage of change where the client finds himself or herself.

  • M.Sc. (Clinical and Community Psychology) Acadia University, Wolfville, NS.

  • Ph.D. (Clinical Psychology) Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS.

  • Five years of full time employment as a psychologist with the NS government, serving at the Nova Scotia Hospital in Dartmouth and at the Young Offender Facility in Waterville, NS.

  • Twelve years as a FT clinical faculty at the University of Phoenix, Colorado Springs, CO in their Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy program.

  • Adjunct faculty teaching psychology courses for Acadia University, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and Dalhousie University.

  • Engaged in private practice and contract work in Clinical Psychology for the past 30+ years in Winnipeg, MB, Colorado Springs, CO, and Halifax, NS, serving various populations including specialty groups such as the RCMP, CAF, and VAC.
